Georgian Repoussé Gold Chain

This is a beautiful early 19th-century chain crafted in rich 18ct gold, dating from around 1810 to 1830. The design features hollow repoussé links, a technique where the metal is shaped and decorated from the reverse side to create detailed, raised patterns. The chain alternates between ornate lozenge-shaped links and stylised shell motifs, all displaying intricate goldwork characteristic of high-quality Georgian-era craftsmanship.
Each link is in excellent condition, with no signs of damage or wear, which is impressive for a piece of its age. The clasp is cleverly concealed within one of the shell links, maintaining the aesthetic flow of the design without interrupting the visual harmony of the chain.
Presented in a bespoke box, this necklace is not only a fine example of early 19th-century goldsmithing but also a stunning and wearable piece of historical jewellery.
