French Second Empire Pearl and Gold Bracelet

French Second Empire natural pearl three colour gold bracelet. This elegant bracelet has six rows of flattened knitted gold rope like links decorated with panels of chunky natural half pearls with green gold ivy leaves and grape decoration on either side. There is an eagle hallmark on the clasp denoting 18ct gold. It is illustrated in Henri Vever's "French Jewellery of the Nineteenth Century" on pages 613 and 665. The Second French Empire lasted from January 14th 1852 to October 27th 1870 and was ruled by Emperor Napoleon 111, Napoleon Bonaparte's nephew.
