A perfect rosary window of plique a jour set in 18ct gold with French eagle marks for 18ct gold on the pendant loop. Plique à jour enamel is a translucent enamel technique that creates a stained glass like effect by applying enamel to metal cells without a backing. The metal cells are usually gold or silver and are soldered together to form cells that separate the different enamel colours. Plique à jour's literal translation from the French is "letting in daylight". This enamel technique had ancient origins but was revived in France and Italy in the 14th century. Circa 1900-1910.
