Pope Pius VII served as head of the Catholic Church from 1800 to 1823 and is remembered for his resilience during the Napoleonic era, including his imprisonment by Napoleon Bonaparte and his eventual restoration to Rome. His papacy was marked by efforts to re-establish the Church following the upheaval of the French Revolution.
