A striking Modernist silver torque and pendant designed by Bjørn Sigurd Østern for the esteemed Norwegian silversmith David-Andersen. Crafted around 1960, this bold piece exemplifies the clean lines and sculptural forms characteristic of Scandinavian design during the mid-20th century.
The torque - a rigid necklace formed from a single piece of silver - frames the accompanying pendant. Østern was one of several talented designers invited by David-Andersen in the 1950s & 1960s to contribute under their own names, marking a pivotal moment in the company’s evolution. Established in 1876, David-Andersen became a leader in Norwegian jewellery.
The torque measures 14cm from north to south. The pendant measures 9.5cm x 3cm.
