Georgian Iberian Chrysoberyl Ring

An Iberian chrysoberyl ring, circa 1760–1780, of striking oval cluster design. The centre is set with an elongated oval chrysoberyl, surrounded by an arrangement of pavé set, cushion-shaped chrysoberyl stones, their warm honey-green tones enhanced by closed-back, foil-backed settings typical of the period. The stones are mounted in high-carat gold with finely scalloped collets. There is an approximate total of 21.6 carats chrysoberyls. This ring is a rare survivor of Spanish/Portuguese Georgian jewellery.
The ring measures 3.8cm from north to south.
