Memorial Enamel Band Ring

¥565,800

Reference: CAX499

A black enamel and 18ct gold memorial band ring inscribed "In Memory Of" on the outside of the band in gothic script and inside the band "Sir Niel Menzies of that Ilk Bart Born 16 Aug 1780 died 16 Aug 1844". This ring is composed of a black enamel centre with two gold chased sides and is in pristine condition. Sir Niel Menzies was the 6th baronet of Castle Menzies and Lieut Col of the Royal Highland Perthshire militia. He married Emilia Balfour and after her death Charlotte Conyers. He had four children and was buried in the family vault in the Old Church of St Davids Weem, Aberfeldy, Perth. "Of that Ilk" is a term used in the Scottish nobility to denote a clan chieftain and means "of the same name" and used to avoid repetition in a person's title.

The head of the ring is 7mm wide north to south.
