Sicilian Diamond Toppa Ring

A striking Sicilian rose cut diamond circular ring set in 18ct gold and silver. These rings are known as "Toppa" in Sicily. The word Toppa in Italian means “patch,” and in the context of Sicilian jewellery, it refers to a distinct circular or rosette-style top part of a ring. This one is particularly large at 2.5cm in diameter and is set with very flat rose cut diamonds that give a big sparkle. The back is open and also engraved and there is a pretty leaf detail on the tripartite shank. Set with approximately 1.5 carats diamonds. Circa 1840.
