An lovely early Victorian chalcedony and cut steel suite, comprising a necklace and matching drop earrings, dating to circa 1830–1840. This elegant set features soft, luminous chalcedony stones mounted in silver and accented with cut steel details. Cut steel jewellery, admired for its brilliant sparkle and intricate workmanship, was a popular alternative to diamonds during the Georgian and early Victorian eras. Paired here with the cool translucence of chalcedony. The necklace lies flat and comfortably along the necklace and pairs perfectly with the matching drop earrings.
The necklace measures 43.5cm in length and 2.4cm in width. The drop earrings measure 7.3cm long by 1.8cm wide and are fitted with gold back-to-front ear wires.
