Georgian Foil Backed Paste Rivière

This Georgian paste rivière necklace is an elegant example of late 18th- to early 19th-century jewellery design. It features a continuous line of round, hand-cut paste stones each set in silver collets and linked closely together to form a fluid, sparkling chain. The stones are foil-backed to enhance their brilliance, a hallmark of Georgian craftsmanship. Set in silver with a gold wash back circa 1800-20. There are four paste collets with patches on the links but otherwise the necklace is in great condition.
Measurements: 42cm long, the central pastes are 9.52mm diameter, the end ones 7.54mm and the necklace includes 2cm of chain each side of the clasp.
