Victorian Cut Steel Star Earrings

A pretty pair of Victorian star shaped cut steel drop earrings with the diamond shape of the star reflected in the diamond shape of the tops. The tops are surmounted by a faceted cut steel half bead and there is also a half bead hanging from the drops. Cut steel became a popular alternative to gemstones in the early Victorian era due to its sparkling appearance. It was particularly fashionable during the Regency and early Victorian periods, when it was often used to create intricate, geometric designs. Cut steel glimmers beautifully in candlelight.
Measurements: 5.3cm long excluding the shepherds hooks x 2.8cm wide at the widest point.
