Victorian diamond 18ct gold fede triple hoop ring composed of three conjoined hoops, bound at the base, forming a bezel of two clasped hands and cushion-shaped diamonds, the hoops with engraved floral decoration and an applied paired heart motif visible beneath the hands when the ring is opened.

Composed of multiple hoops that fit together. When the two hoops of this ring are connected, they form a bezel in the shape of two clasped right hands. This ring, known as a fede, has been used in love rings since Roman times. The clasping of right hands symbolises friendship, loyalty and harmony. Fede and gimmel rings were intended as betrothal or marriage rings. The individual rings could be divided between the betrothed couple and a close relative or friend before being reunited and presented as one ring during the wedding ceremony.
