Victorian Old Mine Cut Diamond Ring

£6,500.00

Reference: CAX073

This stunning Victorian Old Mine Cut three-stone ring, is set in 18ct gold and platinum.  The centre diamond, weighing approximately 1.05 carats, is graded VS2 clarity and N colour, and is notably enhanced by strong fluorescence. The fluorescence in this diamond serves to counteract its natural yellowish hue, causing the diamond to appear much whiter and brighter than would be expected for a diamond of its colour grade. This unique characteristic creates a captivating sparkle and adds a touch of intrigue to the stone, making it stand out in any light.

The two side stones, each approximately 0.70 carats, are also Old Mine Cuts. One side stone is graded VS2 clarity, while the other is SI1, with a total weight of 2.40 carats. Both side stones are J colour, offering a subtle contrast to the centre stone. This ring dates back to circa 1890.

ABOUT THE ERA

Victorian Era Jewellery

Jewellery in the Victorian era (1837–1901), named after Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom, is notable for its diversity and reflection of the period's social, cultural, and technological changes.

This era can be divided into three distinct periods: the Early Victorian or Romantic period, the Mid-Victorian or Grand period, and the Late Victorian or Aesthetic period. Each phase had its own unique characteristics and influences on jewellery design.
