Victorian Sapphire & Diamond Drop Earrings

A charming pair of Victorian Ceylon sapphire and old mine-cut diamond drop earrings, dating to circa 1850–60. Each earring is centred with a cushion-shaped Ceylon sapphire of approximately 1 carat, surrounded by a sparkling border of old mine-cut diamonds, all set in silver and 15ct rose gold. The diamonds total approximately 0.65 carats per earring, 1.30 carats overall, and are estimated as H–I colour and SI–I clarity. A further old-cut diamond is set above each cluster, leading to the shepherd’s hook fittings. The sapphires have a particularly attractive soft cornflower-blue colour, beautifully complemented by the characterful old-cut diamonds and warm rose gold.
