Georgian Mourning Ring

A striking black and white enamel oval 18ct mourning ring highlighted in gold with the inscription "In Death Lamented as In Life Beloved" with a central oval miniature of a lady weeping over an urn holding an anchor with a winged cherub above her head against a blue sky and a further inscription "Weep Not For the Dead". This ring is also Inscribed under the bezel "Bamber Gascoyne ob 31 Octr 1791 Aet 66".

There is a small chip on the white enamel at the very top of the ring but otherwise in remarkable condition for its age.
