Georgian Paste Drop Earrings

An outstanding pair of Georgian black dot paste drop earrings, beautifully crafted in silver with gold backs. Designed in the characteristic chandelier style of the period, each earring is set with graduated black dot paste stones, culminating in a pear-shaped suspended drop and delicate articulated terminals that catch the light with every movement. The darkened foil backing behind each stone enhances their brilliance, closely imitating the appearance of diamonds - a hallmark of fine Georgian paste jewellery. The earrings have been tested as 950 silver settings with 12ct gold backs. With reverse ear fittings.
Condition: Very good antique condition overall. There is minor age-related discolouration to some of the paste stones, together with light surface wear and very minor scratches to the metal and stones, all consistent with age and careful wear. These do not detract from the remarkable presence and elegance of the earrings.
