Victorian 18ct gold, natural pearl and cabochon ruby Caduceus brooch. The caduceus, a staff with two snakes coiled around it, is a symbol of Hermes or Mercury in Greek and Roman mythology. Each snake has charming ruby eyes and each pearl is bright and plump. Circa 1870-80
