Victorian Mizpah Ring

A Victorian 18ct gold ring with a horseshoe motif studded with 7 nails, centred by a small old mine cut diamond of approximately 6 points. The band has raised letters MIZPAH either side of the horseshoe. This ring is slightly graduated, the centre measures 8mm north to south, hallmarked Chester 1885, makers mark E&B. This ring has been made smaller at some point. Mizpah is Hebrew and means “watchtower”, used in the Victorian era to symbolise protection, often given as a token of love or friendship.
