Wendy Ramshaw Ring Stack

Wendy Ramshaw, Twelve Gem-Set Rings on a Brass Stack, circa 1997. An exceptional set of twelve gem-set rings by celebrated British jewellery designer Wendy Ramshaw, arranged on her distinctive sculptural brass ring stand. The rings are crafted in 18ct yellow gold and set with a colourful selection of cabochon gemstones, including moonstone, aquamarine, amethyst and iolite. Each ring bears Wendy Ramshaw’s ‘WR’ maker’s mark. Eleven are hallmarked for London 1997 and are ring size P½, while one is hallmarked for London 2001 and is ring size O. The brass stand is detailed with white enamel bands and measures 14.7cm in height. Presented in its original box.

Accompanied by a copy of Rings by Wendy Ramshaw, inscribed by the artist and dated December 1993, together with a redacted facsimile copy of an insurance valuation issued by Wendy Ramshaw in October 1997.

Wendy Ramshaw CBE, RDI (1939–2018) was one of the most influential figures in modern British jewellery, renowned for transforming the traditional ring into both an intimate piece of jewellery and a sculptural work of art. Her signature ring sets and specially designed stands blurred the distinction between jewellery and sculpture, allowing the pieces to be appreciated both when worn and when displayed. Her work is held in more than 70 public collections worldwide, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the National Museum of Modern Art in Kyoto and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
